He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Simmons and Annie Mack Daniels Simmons; and his siblings, Wayne Simmons, Harold Simmons, Corey Simmons and Velma Smart.

He is survived by: his children, Philancia Gordon (Derrick), Joseph Simmons (Demetria), Rachell Arnett and Candice Brown (Jarvis); his grandchildren, Azure Harvey, David Arnett, Joseph Simmons, De'Ayja Arnett, Devin Gordon, Destyne Arnett, Jordan Brown and Adrian Gordon; his siblings, Dannie Simmons, Michael Simmons (Caroline), Virginia "Ginger" Parker, Mark Simmons, Kandice Warner, Kevnor Dyer and Latanya King; and his friends, Starla Davis and Ingrid Nuss. He is also survived by nephews, cousins.
