On December 2, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, God called to rest an Angel, Alma Ruth Cunningham James. She was born in Webster County, Georgia to the late Mr. Arthur B. Cunningham, Sr. and Mrs. Claudia Mae Thomas Cunningham. "Sister" a.k.a. "Lil Sis", as she was affectionately called, attended school at Ida S. Lowery School in Preston, Georgia.
Later in life, she attended South Georgia Technical School to pursue a career in cosmetology. Alma married early in life and gave birth to the late Lamorris Jordan. She married Willie James Williams in 1963 and gave birth to five children: Lorna (Vincent) Williams, Keith Williams, Gary (Sharon) Williams, Kevin (Daphane) Williams, Kimberly L. Williams. "Sister" joined the church as a child, but later seeked sp iritual nourishment and found it at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Even though this woman was small in stature, she was very big in spirit. Her little light still shines brightly in every life she has touched. Alma leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memories: her five children; eleven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; two aunts, Eula C. Bridges and Eva Mae Harold; three siblings, Joann (Gregory) Brown, Angela (Stanley) Banks, and Arthur B. (Connie) Cunningham, Jr.; a very special cousin, Jeremiah (Josephine) Thomas; an outstanding and best friend, Annie Mae Jordan; three surrogate daughters who called or visited her daily, her nieces, Sherri Lynn Ingram and Esyha Ingram, and her granddaughter, Nekeda D. Boggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
