He was predeceased by: his parents, William Huie (Lillian Middlebrooks Huie) and Douglas Foster Huie, Sr.; his brothers, Bill (Dorris), James (Sandy), Joseph, John and Donald; and his niece Melodie Huie Tamm.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Shropshire Huie; his children, Doug and Laura; and his siblings-in-law, Jeanne Harrell Huie, Claire Dempsey Huie and Frank Shropshire (Sally) of Rome, GA.
