He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Akery and Eddie Huddleston Akery; and his siblings, Earl Akery, Mack Akery and Louise Pritchett.
He is survived by: his wife Jean McClure Akery; his children, Kathy Denney (Ken), Don Akery (Trudy), Terry Akery and Carl Akery (Amanda); and his siblings, Carlos Akery, Billie Elliot, Betty Walker and Gerald Akery. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
