She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernestine Simmons James and Charles Grant. She is survived by: her children, Shalonna Rainey and Shakir Mickel; her grandchildren, Savion Landon Mickel and Nova Marie Mickel; her siblings, Tommy Clark (Nanette Rivers), Henry James (Latara) and Stacie Polite; and her niece Janea Smalls. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
