She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Webster Watson and Della Lee Carey Watson; her husband William Randolph Thomas; and her daughter Sharon Derea Flakes. She is survived by: her children, Jerry Tapley (Dawn), Charlene Spence-Holcomb (Henry), Vicky Shipes, Gregory Tapley, Kim Tapley (Angela) and Terry Tapley (Sherry). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
