He was predeceased by: his parents, Houston D. Gillespie and Bessie Brooks Gillespie; his siblings, Dorothy, Bill Gillespie and Ola Bennett; his significant other's son Charles Eugene Gillespie; and also Walter.
He is survived by: his significant other Martha Fae Gillespie (Collier); his son Dick D. Gillespie (Richard); his siblings, Wiley Gillespie and Shirley Kinard; and his great grandchildren, Jordan, Noah, Jonah and Gabrielle Simmons. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
