He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladys Shelnutt and Charlie Shelnutt; his former wives, Kay Peacock Shelnutt and Ouida Giles Shelnutt; his siblings, Horace Shelnutt, Lloyd Shelnutt, Lewis Shelnutt, Lucious Shelnutt, Roy Shelnutt, Burnell Shelnutt, Vesta Shelnutt and Zettie Shelnutt Stewart; and his son-in-law Steve O'Hara.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Shipman Shelnutt of Byron; his children, Tammy O'Hara of Florissant and Rev. Jeff Shelnutt (Alice) of Macon, Mississippi; his stepchildren, Anne Bowden (Paul) of Hope Hull and Clint Shipman (Ellen) of Byron, Georgia; his sister Alice Miles of Twiggs County, Georgia; and his niece Ann Nix (Daniel) of Traveler's Rest. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Watson - Hunt Funeral Home (1208 Main St, Perry, GA 31069). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Perry Memorial Gardens (2106 US Hwy 41, Perry, GA 31069).
