He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick H. Sims and Lessie Smith Sims; his sister Sue Sims Hollis; and his daughter Claire Sims Wright. He is survived by: his wife Merium Sims of Byron; his children, Candice Sims Pruett of Augusta, Lisa Giles (Malcolm) of Fort Valley and Brad Lawhorn of Butler; his grandchildren, Morgan Smith (Truitt), Kylie Pruett, Anna Claire Pruett, Nick Lawhorn, Anne Marie Lawhorn and Allie Albritton (Kaleb); his sister Jenny Sims Herring (Bill); and his caregiver Shae Butts. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
