He was predeceased by: his parents, Harwell Wilburn Owen and Visita Catherine Johnson Owen; his grandson Samuel "Sambo" Hudson; his great grandchild Aubree Donaldson; and his brother Jerry Owen (Willie Owen).
He is survived by: his wife Donnie Phillips Owen; his children, Dana Henderson (Stephen Owen), Caleb Owen (Angela), Stacy Everett (Jesse) and Cynthia Hudson (Candace Bentley); and his sisters, Joyce Lewis and Ramona Owen. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
