He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick William and Mary Ann Thomas Brandt Sr.; his children, Frederick "Freddy" Brandt, III and Tracy Lynn Brandt; and his siblings, Richard Brandt and Thressia Murphy.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jane; his son Shawn Douglas Brandt (Lisa) of Ottumwa; his grandchildren, Brooke Miller, Michaella Brandt, Bradley Miller (Cassie) and Michael Brandt (Cara); his great grandchildren, Helena Brandt, Avalyn Finley, Austin Porter, Kazin Miller, Jaxon and Huxton Miller; his brother Scott Brandt (Tammy); his brother-in-law Paul Cox (Evelyn); and his daughter-in-law Kelly Brandt. He is also survived by his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Memorials may be made to his grandchildren's education.
