In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Emily leaves behind and her impact on the lives of her loved ones. Though Emily may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Wade Smith, Sr. and Henrietta J. Smith of Oglethorpe County, GA.; her husband Virgil Lee Whittington; and her brother Lloyd Smith. She is survived by: her sons, Kenneth Whittington (Marla) and Charles Whittington (Kelly); and her brother John Wade Smith, Jr.. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Lord & Stephens Funeral Home (4355 Lexington Rd, Athens, GA 30605). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the cemetery at Burt's United Methodist Church.
