He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Albert and Wily V. Thomas Thornton; his son Brian Ashley Thornton; his son-in-law Cary Wayne Colley; his grandson Jordan Taylor Crews; his siblings, Thomas James "Jimmy" Thornton, Patricia Page and Merle Jean Taylor; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Page and Jimmy Ray Sornson.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Thornton of Patterson; his daughters, Shelly Crews (Nick) of Patterson and Jammie Boatright (Joby) of Patterson; his grandchildren, Ashley Thornton (Ashlie), Callie Harrison (Brandon), Abbie Thornton (Will Johnson), Josh Crews, Brooke Crews (Brianna McQuaig), Taylor Colley (Turin Herring), Alivia Colley (Cason Turner), Bryer Boatright (Makayla) and Thorn Boatright; his great grandchildren, Stetson Thornton, Maddox Thornton, Emersyn Thornton, Justin Thornton, Breanna Harrison, Sadie Mae Boatright, Carson Ferguson and Amriella Colley; and his sisters, Linda Thornton Sornson of Patterson, Libby Strickland of Jacksonville, Marilyn Snyder (Norman) of Jacksonville and Debbie Griggs of Waycross. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (1871 Tyre Bridge Rd, Patterson, GA 31557). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
