It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Eugene Austin Townsend (Oconee, Georgia), who passed away on July 21, 2018, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his sister Marie Townsend Conner (John). He is survived by: his brother George A. Townsend, Jr.; his wife Freda Townsend of Athens; his nieces and nephews, Glenn A. Townsend (Debra) of Athens, Madeline Conner Krieger (Bob) of Statham, Todd C. Townsend (Milicent) of Hartwell, Mark S. Townsend of Watkinsville, Maygan Townsend, Travis Townsend of Athens, Maddi Krieger and Will Townsend (Lauren) of Hull; and also William R. Townsend (Sue) of Watkinsville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Princeton United Methodist Memorial Fund, St. Mary's Hospice House or Our Daily Bread of Athens.
