He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Mathias and Catherine Landerfelt Mathias; his son Terry; his daughter-in-law Linda Mathias; his daughters, Joyce (Lewis Chapman) and Cindy (Todd Martin); and his siblings, Jim (Donna Mathias), Larry (Cindy Mathias), Mary (Richard Chevalier), Shirley (Don Starner) and Ellen (Paul Cook). He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Doraville First Baptist Church "In loving memory of Paul Jerome Mathias".
