He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Covington and Margie Roberts; and his siblings, Ethel Randle, Joe and Derrick Roberts.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Covington; his son Michael L Covington, III (Tanya); his stepchildren, LaBrenda Miller (Bernard), Erika Stenson, Foster Stenson (Mackie) and Navy; and his siblings, Andrew Roberts (Jackie) of Chicago, IL, Debbie Roberts of Chicago, IL, Joann Roberts of Conyers and Quinton Harper (Rachel) of Orangeburg, SC.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
