Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Richard Whitener Sr. of Nicholson, Georgia, born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, who passed away at the age of 77, on October 23, 2020. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Jeanie Whitener; his children, Dena (Greg Voyles), Keri (Gray Etheredge) and Wes Whitener (Erin); his brothers, Alan Whitener (Merrill) and Dail Melton (Paula); his grandchildren, Gregory Voyles, Ariel (Tyler Beam), Charlie, John, Caroline Etheredge, Robin, Lucy and Nati Whitener; his niece Heather (Patrick Shue); his mother Jo Whitener; his siblings, Sandy and Don; and also, Ayumi Whitener, Jeff, Becca Whitener, Adam, Brooke Melton, John and Joy Melton. He was also cherished by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Richard's memory to First Baptist Church in Commerce, GA at fbc-commerce.org/give.
