He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Luke Merritt and Betty Lou Bostic Merritt; and his brothers, Frederick Merritt, Jimmy Darrell Merritt and Michael Merritt.
He is survived by: his sons, Tony Merritt of Willacoochee, Georgia, Travis Merritt of Willacoochee, Georgia and Trey Merritt of Willacoochee, Georgia; his girlfriend Patsy Green; his girlfriend's children, Salomon Rodriguez of Douglas, Luis Rodriguez of Douglas, Ashley Green of Nicholls and Jason Maldonado of Nicholls, Georgia; and his siblings, Bridgette Merritt Wampler of Ambrose, CeCe Brigmond (Kenneth) of Broxton, Dana Flanagan (Jackie) of Douglas, Georgia and Joe Merritt (Dedra) of Douglas, Georgia..
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel (305 W Ward St, Douglas, GA 31533). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at the Elam-Harper Cemetery.
