He is survived by: his wife Mamie McConnell Lanier of Newton; his children, Michael Rooks Lanier, Jr. (Heather) of Newton and Mindy Lanier of Newton; his uncle Hugh Lanier of Atlanta; his granddaughters, Lillian Lanier, Abigail Lanier and Michelle Lanier; and his siblings-in-law, Chris Lanier, Betty McConnell and Chuck McConnell.
