He was predeceased by: his parents, Glover Sewell and Hazel Herrin Sewell; his wife Josephine Boyd Sewell; his brothers, Glover Sewell, Jr. and Jody Sewell; and his sister-in-law Merelyn Holbrook.

He is survived by: his brother Tommy Sewell; his sons, Rick Sewell (Jackie) and Chris Sewell (Niki); his grandchildren, Justin Sewell, Dylan Sewell, Madison Coleman (Jeff) and Trey Wood (Hannah); his great grandchildren, Tyisen Coleman, Cameron Horton, Ryleigh Wood and Riggs Coleman; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Boyd (Inelle), Brad Boyd (Pam), Randy Boyd (Becky), Edna Sewell and June Eiland. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
