She was predeceased by: her parents, George Howard Lewis and Ruth Odom Lewis; her brother James Paul Lewis; her son Gary LaWayne Carpenter; and her granddaughter Cheri Amber Carpenter.
She is survived by: her husband John Clark Carpenter; her children, Greg Carpenter, Debra Owens (Jerry) and Chesley Carpenter (Kristina); and her siblings, Janie Green and Howard Dulane Lewis. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mills Chapel Baptist Church (85 Country Club Rd, Newnan, GA 30263). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
