He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Nicholas Schade, Sr. and Christina Paulson Schade; his wife Clare K. Pfeiffer; his siblings, Herman (Henry), Christina and Mildred; and his grandsons, Nicholas Schade Whitlock and Nick Schade.

He is survived by: his children, Henry William (Debby), Robert Schade (Giselle), Clare Whitlock (Jimmy), Millie Doubleday and Paul Schade; his grandchildren, James Whitlock (Kelli), Jennifer Oleson (Rex), Henry R. Schade, Julie Roberts (Matt), Emily Lloyd (Adam), Christie Schade and Robert A. Whitlock; and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Whitlock, Ila Clare Whitlock, Wen Whitlock, Christian Roberts, Nicholas Roberts, Grayson Roberts, Aubrey Oleson, Hunter Schade Whitlock and Zoey Oleson.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Captain Nicholas Schade Whitlock Foundation.
