He was predeceased by: his parents, Vera Fay Burks Smith and William Henry Smith. He is survived by: his sister Joyce Smith Estep; his wife Thelma Louise Rainey; and his children, Jane Johnston (Lyn), Brett Smith (Nancy), Deborah Ward and Mary Faye Moore (Warren). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and in short order 30 great grandchildren with 1 on the way and 4 great-great grandchildren.
