She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene Upshaw, and Claudis Upshaw, Sr. of Newnan; her husband Billy J. Burgess; and her siblings, Joel Upshaw (Connie) and Rose McMichael.
She is survived by: her children, Jeff Burgess (Robin), Terri Lassetter and Greg Burgess (Bonnie); her grandchildren, Nicholas Burgess (Kara), Lindsey Collins (Andrew), Hilary Duke (Wesley), Kelly Whisenhunt and Kacey Smith; her great grandchildren, Holland Burgess, Amelia Burgess, Brylee Collins, Aspen Collins, Sadie James Collins, Owen Andrew Duke, Oaklynn Alys Duke, Stella Whisenhunt, Crosby Whisenhunt and Bowie Smith; and her close friend Charles Davis. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
