He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Witherspoon Mitchell and Ava Merle Connell Mitchell; and his brothers, James Gordon Mitchell and Bobby Joe Allen. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Hoffpauir Mitchell of Nashville; his sons, Jim Mitchell (Catja) of Cumming and John Mitchell of Warner Robins, Georgia; his granddaughters, Madeline Mitchell of Cumming and Megan Mitchell of Suwanee, Georgia; his sisters, Bettye Fleuren of Johnson City and Debbie (Mike Bradford); and his sibling-in-law Cecil. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
