He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Vernon Guthrie and Lucille Richardson Guthrie. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Sapp Guthrie of Nashville; his son Ronnie Carl "Ron" Guthrie, Jr. (Sharla) of Nashville; and his grandchildren, Forrest Guthrie, Blake Guthrie, Joey Whittington, Meghan Raffield (Brandon), Aly Gipson (Jarrett) and Cassie Purvis (Jamey). He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
