She was predeceased by: her parents, James Randolph Gray and Abbie Lee Murphy Gray; her husband Rev. Jack Brannen Smithwick; her daughter Carol Smithwick Scattergood; her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Giles and Martha Gray Wilkerson; and her stepbrother Bennie Hamilton.
She is survived by: her son Jack B. "Chuck" Smithwick, Jr. of Nashville; her foster daughter Martha Humphries of Waycross; her siblings, Ruth Chandler (Steve) of Clarksville, TN, Charles Hamilton of Gordon and Raymond Hamilton (Gloria) of Destin, FL; her stepsiblings, Carolyn Hamilton of Moultrie and Jimmy Hamilton of Moultrie; and her grandchildren, Jason Montgomery (Christina) of Springfield, IL, Christy, Jessica and Elizabeth. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Nashville Church of the Nazarene.
