It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melba Day of Mount Vernon, Georgia, who passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Melba Day to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Houston Sharpe and Willie Mae Mercer Sharpe; her grandson Bradley Helms; and her siblings, Houston, Jr., Melvin, Wendell, William, Buddy, Billy Joe Sharpe, Alice Sharpe Watts and Mary Sharpe Toler.
She is survived by: her husband Jack Day; her sons, Rodney Helms (Leigh Anne) and Michael Helms (Charlotte); her grandchildren, Hunter, Brent and Adrianna Helms; her great grandchild Kensley Helms of Ailey; her sons, Mike Day of Uvalda and Randy Day (Alicia) of Uvalda; and her sister Carlene Sharpe McBride (Gene) of Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home (310 North St W, Vidalia, GA 30475). A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in memory of Melba, to Bear Creek Baptist Church, 1607 Bear Creek Road, Mt. Vernon GA 30455.
