He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Calvin Garmon, Sr. and Pat Brown Garmon. He is survived by: his wife Mary H. Armstrong of Mt. Vernon; his daughter Katye Ward (Jarrett) of Atlanta; his adoptive daughter Victoria Conner of Mt. Vernon; his sister Connie Howell of Rutledge; and his granddaughter Ava Ward.
