It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marion Mathis of Moultrie, Georgia, born in Adel, Georgia, who passed away on January 12, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Mathis and Lettie Hires Mathis; his significant other Charlotte Stripling Mathis; and his brothers-in-law, Donnie Stripling (Linda) and Lane Whitley.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Leigh Mathis Tyus (Steve) of Moultrie and Alan Lee Mathis (Dena) of Moultrie; his grandchildren, Leigh Anna Tyus Peek (Matt), Stephen Mathis Tyus (Emily), Julie Anne Tyus and Haden Lee Blevins Mathis; his great grandchildren, Maddie Claire Peek, John David Peek, Ellie Peek, Ruthie Peek, Nathan Tyus and Whitney Tyus; his sister Joan Mathis Folsom (Raybun) of Warwick, GA; and his siblings-in-law, Lavon Stripling (Beth) of Moultrie, GA and Debby Stripling Whitley of Moultrie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
