He was predeceased by: his stepmother Pearl Summerlin Gaines; and his brother Tommy Gaines. He is survived by: his wife Wilma Baker Gaines; his children, Stanley Gaines (Cindy) of Social Circle, GA, Jan Smith (Brad) of Moultrie and Julie Clark (Steve) of Cairo; his grandchildren, Faith Strickland (Joe), Christopher Gaines (Taylor), Jessica Edwards (Allen), Brandon Smith (Alexa), Dustin Harrell (Katie), Austin Harrell and Garrett Harrell; his siblings, Dot Mims and Carroll Gaines; and his grandsons, Allen Edwards and Joe Strickland. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
