He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward Sutton and Georgia Inez Pagett Sutton; his wife Sherry Gail Giles Sutton; and his siblings, James Sutton, Sonny Sutton and Nancy Gray.

He is survived by: his children, Amie Lynn Sutton of Macon, Jerry K. Sutton (Kathy) of Atlanta and Chis Sutton (Tracy) of Tenn; and his granddaughters, Katelyn Easter (Jonathan), Jennifer Lloyd (Michael) and Chelsea Shipley (John).
