He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac Mercer and Annie Lou Vickers Mercer; his brothers, David Max Mercer and Charles Henry Mercer; his brother-in-law Jim H. "Pete" Rowland; his grandson David Stanfill; and his close friend Gary White.
He is survived by: his daughters, Paula Cato (James), Tammy Mercer, Wendy Cooper and Crystal Moore (Michael); his grandchildren, Jebb Cato (Kaydee), Judd Cato (Hannah), Adam Stanfill, Haley Bennett, Will Roberts (Autumn), AnnaDale Roberts, Levi Stanfill and Mason Moore; his great grandchildren, Reagan Stanfill, Mason Stanfill of Nevaeh Stanfill, J. R, Jette Cato and Jaxx Cato; and his sister Dilly Regenia Mercer Rowland.
