He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearley Hayes and Minnie O'Neal Hayes; his wife Betty Mae Moore Hayes; and his brothers, Farris Hayes of Willie Hayes, G. R and Vernis Hayes.

He is survived by: his son Timmy Lee Hayes (Debra) of Moultrie; his grandchildren, Rebecca Hayes, Kimberly Hayes and Morgan Cooper (James); and his great grandchildren, Matthew Hayes and Josiah Hayes.
