He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Kirkland and Mabel Saltz Kirkland; his wife Christine Lott Kirkland; his son Max Kirkland; and his brother Kenneth Nelson Kirkland.
He is survived by: his daughter Gayle Horton (Mike) of Moultrie; his grandchildren, Victoria Smith (Michael) of North Carolina, Olivia Horton of Moultrie, Pierce Horton, Patricia Foster of Moultrie, Gavin Cooper of Moultrie and Rylan Hummons of Moultrie; and his great grandchild Elijah James Horton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
