He was predeceased by: his father Clories Edward Hughes; his sisters, Joyce Carmel Hughes, Gwendolyn Johnson, Linda Butts, Anita Long, Clyda Sue White and Charlene Sluder; and his sister-in-law Linda Sluder Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Hughes; his children, Charles Hughes (Jennifer) of Cleveland, TN, Lorie Galloway (Chris) of Morganton and Carrie Hughes of Morganton; his siblings, Edwin Hughes of Blue Ridge, Shirley Dills of Mineral Bluff and Claudette Hughes of Morganton; his grandchildren, Amber Hughes, Ashley Hughes, Whitney Patterson (Brandon), Jacob Galloway, Brett Galloway and Dawson Galloway; and his great grandchild Winter McClanahan.
