He is survived by: his wife Annie Bell Watkins; his children, Patricia Diane Young (Wade), Celestine Watkins, Bernestine Watkins, Brenda Watkins, Willie James Watkins, Jr. and Dominique Watkins; his siblings, Ernestine Cornellius, Donald Watkins (Sarah), Eva Perry (Eddie), Ferrell Watkins (Martha) and Ronald Watkins; and his aunts, Daisy Pearl Watkins and Annie Mae Watkins. He is also survived by children that he fostered for over 20 years and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
