With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rodney Gene Rakes of Monroe, Georgia, who passed away on September 12, 2020 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sol Rakes and Virgie Rakes of Haysi, VA.; and his sister Janice Sue Rakes. He is survived by: his wife Betty; his son Jeff; his daughter-in-law Celeste Rakes of Dover, DE; his daughter Janene; his son-in-law Peter Meents of Monroe, GA; his daughter Ginger Rakes of Lilburn, GA.; and his grandchildren, Rebekah Rakes Mitchell, Joel Rakes, Daniel Rakes, Ian Meents, Abbey Meents Long, Kate Meents Mercer and Connor Meents. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of life service will be planned at a later date.
