He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula R. Sherrill and Wade Hopkins Saunders; his wife Peggy Pope Saunders; and his siblings, Frances Smith, Margaret Parker and Everett Saunders.
He is survived by: his children, Everett Saunders, Steve Saunders (Libby) and Cynthia Saunders Stewart; his grandchildren, Joshua Saunders (Brian Basinger), Sarah Saunders (Adam Childs), Rachel Jean (Rob) and Lacey Saunders (Joe Huston); and his great grandchildren, Riverly Jean, River Huston and Noah Huston.
