He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Patten and Adaline Rockwell Patten; and his wife Cynthia Ann Boudreaux Patten. He is survived by: his children, Jason Patten of Milner and Melissa Patten of Milner; his brother Sam; his sister-in-law Ruth Patten of Chattanooga, TN; and his sister Ella Jane Mayes of North Carolina.
