He was predeceased by: his parents, Quinton Courson and Mary Evelyn Bagley Courson; his wife Christine Foster Courson; and his brothers, Willie Cecil Courson and Ray Kelly Courson.

He is survived by: his children, Tina Nichols (Jeff) of Bickley, Tammy Teresa Sauls (Jason) of Chattanooga, TN and Stevie Lavell Courson (Hope) of Bickley; his grandchildren, Jeffery Porter (Melissa), Andrew Porter (Ashley), Kristy Hart (Brian), Ashley Ungos (Tanner), Kara Birge (Daniel), Daulton Sauls, Kendra Erven (James) and Crystal Courson; and his siblings, Paulette Porter of Bickley and Donald Courson of Waycross. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
