He was predeceased by: his father Clyde Edward Gurley; his son Donald Gurley; his grandchildren, Bill O'Berry and Andrea Carver; his great great grandchild Aiden Gillis; his siblings, Jim Gurley, Clyde Gurley, Jr., Lloyd Gurley, Marion Gurley, Reba Gurley, Mary Ellen Gurley Wilcox and Francis Gurley May; and his son-in-law Rondal O'Berry.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Simmons Gurley; his daughters, Brenda Mizell (Lee) of Axson, Linda O'Berry of Millwood, Tina Thompson (Perry) of Millwood and Nelda Douglas (Rufus) of Millwood; and his siblings, Clovis Gurley, John Henry Gurley, Catherine Gurley Taft, Odessa Gurley Taft and Callie Gurley Williams. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren.
