He was predeceased by: his wife Sandra Waller Rowland; his parents, John Clifton and Idene Webb Rowland; his siblings, Henry "Shorty" Rowland, Louie Rowland, Shelton Rowland, Robert "Bud" Rowland, Fred Rowland, Herbert Rowland, Genell Mathis, Frances Cartwright and Johnnie Mae Rowland; and his grandson Samuel Jacob Hall.

He is survived by: his sons, Brad Rowland (Lisa) of Swainsboro and Craig Rowland (Leslie) of Swainsboro; his sister Sara Watkins (Lewis) of Appling; his grandchildren, John Rylie Rowland of Swainsboro, Dawn Wilkerson (Henry) of Swainsboro and Allen Logan (Shannon) of Swainsboro; and his great grandchildren, R. J. Phillips, Kytle Phillips, Claudia Wilkerson, Ryan Logan, Gauge Hall and Levi Hall. He is also survived by many nieces, and nephews.
