He was predeceased by: his wife Geraldine Nixon Smith Smedley. He is survived by: his siblings, David Smedley, Jean Smedley Steele and Myra Smedley Tinney; and his daughters, Patricia Smith Mansfield, Pauline Smith Edmonds, Karen Ella Smedley and Kathleen Smedley Betts Ledbetter. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
