He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Pridgeon Hemphill; his son Raymond E. Hemphill, Jr.; and his parents, Walter Hemphill and Anna Hemphill. He is survived by: his brother Walter A. Hemphill (Betty Sue); and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Mathis. He is also survived by four nieces, and two nephews.
