He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rogers Whittington and Mildred Hood Whittington Bateman; and his stepfather Tom Bateman. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Kirkland Whittington; his children, Taft Howard Mullis III, William Scott Mullis (Crystal) of Milledgeville, Obie Michael Mullis of Sparta, Debra Whittington of Macon and Patricia O'Connor (John) of Montgomery, AL; and his siblings, Dona Robertson (Don) of Griffin, Larry Bateman (Susie) of Mechanicsville, VA and Jimmy Bateman (Rosie) of Houston, TX. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
