She was predeceased by: her parents, Horace B. Avant and Bertie Chambers Avant; her husband John Carris Lavender, Sr.; her brother Horace "Buddy" Avant, Jr.; and her son-in-law Dwight Riddle.
She is survived by: her children, Debbie Dempster (Sandy) of Bonaire, Susan Weeks (Danny) of Valdosta, Lori Riddle (Dwight) of Milledgeville and John Carris Lavender, Jr. of Macon; and her grandchildren, Lex Dempster, Lee Dempster (Summer) and Jason Riddle. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
