She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe High Shaw, Sr. and Ada Bruce Shaw; her husband Ross Merriman; her son Jack Merriman; and her siblings, Joe Shaw, Jr. and Audrey Hightower.
She is survived by: her daughters, Joy Stafford and Penny Callaway; her stepdaughters, Barbara Martin and Clarice Redd; and her sisters, Claire Gunter and Lynda Johnson (Gary). She is also survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
