She was predeceased by: her parents, James Sherrod and Lizzie Shuman Sherrod; her sisters, Mattie McInnis and Louise Martin; her husband Eugene Serra; her daughter Michelle Taylor; and her nephews, Mark Martin and David Martin.

She is survived by: her children, Debra Pirkle (Tony) of Sandersville and Mark Serra (Susie) of Atlanta; her granddaughters, Elizabeth Walker (Matt), Yetta Elliott (David) and Deiadra Smith (Aiden); her great grandchildren, Mea Elliott and Gianna Elliott; and her nieces and nephews, Michael Serra (Bobbi), Louis Serra, Jon McInnis, Billie Ussery (Diane), Frank Ussery, Sue Fry and Linda Brown.
