Kathleen Elizabeth Dorsey Obituary
Kathleen Elizabeth Dorsey, known as Kat, died of lung cancer on February 13, 2021, in Savannah. She was 57.
Kat was born in Sneedville, TN. She grew up there, and lived in Texas, Maryland and Florida as an adult. At the time of her death she was living in Midway, GA. She had worked as a project manager on government contracts, and was a knowledgeable animal lover - all kinds of animals. She loved riding horses. She knew all about wolves. In addition to rescuing at least a hundred endangered gopher turtles, and numerous dogs, she also raised an orphaned possum from infancy to full 65-pound adulthood, and named her Taylor. At one time she even trained police dogs.
Kat was proud of her Native American heritage. Friends knew her as kind and a great cook - and as someone not to be messed with. Her passing leaves a gap for those who loved her that cannot be filled.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Kat’s name to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6, at 11:00, at Fleming Baptist Church.
